Celf creates projects, exhibitions and residencies that open up opportunities for participation, develops artistic practice and presentation and supports social inclusion. etc.

To date, we have successfully recruited 14 artists to Celf’s innovative and pioneering Training and Mentoring programme (2009 – 2014), some artists have participated all the way through and others have joined and moved on.

Through early exhibition opportunities at Celf’s Beaufort Gallery in Llandrindod Wells, Oriel Davies Gallery in Newtown, and other venues in the UK, the majority of mentored artists have become increasingly visible, independent exhibiting artists.

Our current projects are:

Learning & Practice: A year long training project designed to provide a new approach for practicing and aspiring artists with mental health challenges to learn, create and present whilst also promoting engagement with and sharing on wider platforms.

Delivered through an artist’s residency, a programme of training sessions, work shadowing, gallery and project visits, a presentation and panel discussion, and an exhibition, leading to a Wales Arts and Mental Health Festival being piloted by Disability Arts Cymru (DAC) and Making Minds in October 2016.
