'Lou Lockwood: Imprint - a further experiment in touch memory'

October welcomes Lou Lockwood, the first of four artists in residence to Centre Celf.

Lou used her time at Celf o Gwmpas to further develop ideas using pin hole cameras during her residency: Imprint - a further experiment in touch memory.

Lockwood works in sculpture, audio, photography, film and performance.  The direction of her work is in response to her need to adapt to sight loss and to develop a language in art that aims to bring sighted and non-sighted audiences together.

'Dawn McIntyre: Sanguis et Capillum'

November welcomes our second artist in residence Dawn McIntyre to Centre Celf.

McIntyre's residency entitled Sanguis et Capillum will focus on creating a self-portrait using abstracted images of organic materials, studied under a microscope.

Throughout November, McIntyre plans to develop a series of portraits looking at different elements of self, to enable viewers to see aspects of the artist and to identify with themselves.

McIntyre's paintings and sketches capture images which translate the experience of places to which she has travelled, using materials she finds fascinating at a particular moment in time.

'Scott Berry - Confusement'

Learning disabled artist Scott Berry from the Nina Haggerty Centre in Alberta, Cananda  will spend time with Celf in a high tech ground breaking residency opportunity...

Berry works in a variety of materials with a focus on drawing, painting and making mannequins. In 2011 he fulfilled his dream of creating a replica of himself. He called this look-a-like Raymond, after Scott’s own middle name. He describes his drawings similar to, “doing a puzzle or like a game.” In a Dubuffetesque style, Scott likes to draw hidden objects within his works.

Berry's 4 week residency will take place during October 2017.

The residency aims to share artistic practice, network with peers and sahre the working process developed for the Nina's latest group installation project 'Confusement'

The residency and workshops will share best practice on an international level.
