As of Wednesday 18th March, our trustees have made the decision that Celf o Gwmpas staff will be working from home and the building will be closed.

Their statement reads:

As part of the ongoing response to the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID -19) Celf o Gwmpas is paying close attention to information from UK Government as well as guidance from Public Health Wales.

The latest update from the UK Government includes new measures; that everyone should;

• avoid gatherings and crowded places,

• avoid non-essential travel and

• work from home if they can

In light of this, we have made the decision to suspend all group activities at Centre Celf until further notice. Our staff will be working from home and Centre Celf will only be open to those who currently rent office space.

Our priority is the wellbeing, health and safety of all at Celf o Gwmpas; our artists, staff, volunteers and the general public. This is going to be a difficult time for everyone and we need to support each other. We will continue to keep in touch with our artists through the website, email and other online tools.

If you have any questions, please email Sarah; centrecelf@celfogwmpas.org

We will obviously still try to fill your life with art, check out our facebook page and we will be back with a whole programme of exciting events and classes once this situation passes. We hope you all keep safe and well during this time and thank you for your continued support and understanding.

As part of the ongoing response to the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID -19) Celf o Gwmpas is paying close attention to advice provided by UK Government as well as guidance from Public Health Wales.

Although the UK Chief Medical Officers have raised the risk to the UK from low to moderate, we are not currently planning on cancelling any events and continue to operate on our usual day to day basis.

We would recommend that everyone follow NHS hygiene advice and any returning travellers from certain countries with confirmed cases of Coronavirus should follow recommendations laid out here;

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-specified-countries-and-areas/covid-19-specified-countries-and-areas-with-implications-for-returning-travellers-or-visitors-arriving-in-the-uk

Celf o Gwmpas recognises that some staff, service users and visitors are in the ‘at risk’ categories and we will not expect anyone to undertake unnecessary risks.

We will continue to monitor any developments and will update this information of any further action we take as things change.

There has been a lot going on over the last week or so for Celf o Gwmpas.

Our training programme, Art is Power, was back after the festive break. The programme is running over a 12 month period and the group meet for two consecutive days near the beginning of each month. There are 8 local artists in the group and the training is lead by Maria Hayes.

We had the opening of the brilliant and thought provoking Accumulation - An Exhibition by local artist Jane Mason.

Over 50 people attended the Welsh Arts Health and Wellbeing network training event, hosted by Engage Cymru.

And this evening from 6 - 9pm is the opening of Celf o Gwmpas Artists Network Exhibition "Discovery". at Theatr Brycheiniog.

Alongside ALL that we had our regular local groups, Welsh lessons run by Learn Welsh - Ceredigion Powys and our weekly open studio. Busy!
