Our Current Exhibition
Rachael Blakeway
Our current exhibition is a collection of work by local mixed media artist Rachael Blakeway who makes an eclectic range of 3D pictures and decorations from throw-away materials and found objects. She enjoys the challenge and freedom of working with materials that have been discarded or no longer have a use and gives them a new lease of life, a sort of reincarnation.
Each piece is individually hand painted and decorated, making them unique as no two pieces are the same and they all have different stories as to where their origins began.
The inspiration for her work is based on everyday observations of people with interesting mannerisms, vintage objects and nostalgic memories. She loves the use of bright colours and a hint of humour giving them a feel-good factor. She believes her methods follow the saying “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” and that there is a lot of treasure to be made!
She hopes the observer can relate to some of her small pockets of happiness giving them a feeling of warmth and joy especially needed for the winter months ahead.
Rachael sells her work through her social media, at art fairs and in galleries. She also takes on commissions, so if you would like a personalised piece of art work for yourself or a loved one you can get in touch via her social media pages.
The exhibition runs from 6th January until Thursday 19th February 2026 and is open Tuesday - Thursdays 9am - 5pm and Saturday term times, 9am - 12pm.
